Patsy Hampton Greene, 79, of Hickory passed away Sunday, Feb. 11, 2018, at her residence.
She was born April 26, 1938 in Watauga County to the late Orville Greene Hampton and Tois Rose Miller Hampton.
Patsy was a member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church in Hickory. Patsy worked in the school cafeterias of St. Stephens High School and Clyde Campbell Elementary School for many years.
She had quite a collection of cookbooks. Patsy was known for her gift of cooking and her kindness of sharing fruit cakes and friendship cakes with many at Christmas.
Those left to cherish her memory are husband of 57 years, Homer Fred Greene of the home, sons: Shannon H. Greene and wife Diane of Hickory, Winfred Shawn Greene and wife Tamara of Conover; grandchildren; Julie Patrick (Richie) and Ashley McAlpin (Cory); great-grandchildren, Conor Scott, and Chanceton Patrick.
A graveside service to celebrate Patsy's life will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 14, at 3 p.m. at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens in Hickory. The Revs. Bill Sturm, Sherrill Wellborn, and Rick Crotts will officiate.
A reception to honor Patsy's life will be held following the service from 4 to 6 p.m., at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church fellowship hall.
