Carl D. Black, 49, took the checkered flag on February 8, 2018 at his residence after a brief illness. He was born on April 23, 1968 in Detroit, MI to the late Thomas & Lorena (Neely) Black. Carl worked as a sales representative with Voigts Crane Rental. He was an avid dirt track racer, driving the #97 & #23 for years at Thunder Bowl and various dirt tracks throughout the Southeast. He also was an avid Alabama football fan. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his grandson, Jaxyn Brady Black and step- father, Loyce Prine.
Survivors Include: his wife, Julia Tillman Black, Valdosta; 2 sons and daughters-in-law: Cody & Tiffany Black, Ashland, KY, Jay & Jenna Cowart, Valdosta; daughter: Kyliee Miller, Valdosta; 7 grandchildren; 2 brothers & sisters-in-laws: Tommy & Teresa Black, Jennings, FL, Daniel & Kim Black, Quitman, GA and a number of nieces and nephews.
A graveside celebration of his life and victory will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 12, 2018 in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Quitman, GA. The family received friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2018 at Music Funeral Home.. Sympathy may be expressed online at www.musicfuneralservices.com.
