Mr. Beaird, at the time of his death, headed the corporation which bore his name. He was born in Tyler, Texas, on Sept. 2, 1883, and attended public schools there. He worked in the machine shops of the L. R. and N. and the L. and A. For a number of years previous to forming his own business he was associated with H. H. Bain.
He is survived by a daughter, Miss Pearl Beaird, and three sons, J. Pat, Walton and Charles, by his first wife, and a daughter, Maude Elizabeth, and a son, J. Benjamin, Jr., by his second wife. He is also survived by a sister, Mrs. Georgia Beaird Alston, of Tyler, Texas, and two brothers, Charles E. and Thomas E., both of Shreveport. Mr. Beaird's first wife, Mrs. Mattie Ford Beaird, whom he married in 1907, died Aug. 30, 1922.
Pallbearers numbered more than a score of well-known local business men.
