Born in Wilkes-Barre, on Aug. 21, 1938, a daughter to the late Alex and Anna Pivinski Bucknavage. She was a life resident of Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre and attended the James M. Coughlin High School. She was employed as a fancy shoe stitcher for many years in the local shoe factories. Violet then became the hostess for the salad and desert bars at Iorio's Fireside Inn, Bear Creek, until its closing in 1991. She then became the housekeeping manager at the East Mountain Inn for 18 years, until her retirement.
Violet was a life member of the former St. Francis Church, Miners Mills, where she was a member of the Holy Name Society.
The family would like to thank the devoted people at Kistler Clinic, Dr. Michael Fisher and staff, the super staff at Caresite Pharmacy, the angels at Celtic Hospice, Cathy, Maureen, Karen, April and Sharon, Judy, Kate and everyone with the Geisinger group, hospital and clinic; super dedicated people within a super great organization.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Martin and Alex Bucknavage Jr.; son, Edward Berry Jr.; and daughter, Susan Berry; along with an infant son, Christopher.
Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Edward Berry; cherished daughter, Sandra and her husband, John, Edwardsville; her shining star in the sky, grandson, Alan; brother, John and his wife, Marion, Wilkes-Barre; sisters, Carol Zimminski, Boyerston; Helen Jowanna, Florida; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; her cats, Spike and Baby.
Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family with interment in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Bear Creek.
