Ishpeming- Richard H.W. "Boy" Guy, age 90, lifelong Ishpeming resident passed away Thursday February 8, 2018 at the Marquette County Medical Care Facility while in the loving care of his family and the U.P. Home Health and Hospice.



Richard was born January 1, 1928 in Ishpeming to the late Richard H. and Alma (Olilla) Guy. He served in the US Army during World War II, before returning to Ishpeming and working for C.C.I. for 27 years, retiring as a welder from the Tilden Mine. Richard also owned and operated Tri-City Upholstery for many years. He enjoyed gardening, yardwork, and was a perfectionist when it came to his work. Richard was a loving and devoted husband and father.



Richard is survived by his wife of 69 years Shirley (Peterson) Guy, 2 children- Diane C. (Leonard) Oberdorf of Larsen, WI, Carol J. (Jim) Borst of Grandville, MI, 7 grandchildren- James (Gina) Welsh, Daniel Welsh, Chelsea (James) Russell, Guy R. Veenendall, Joshua Borst, Melissa (Jason) Weinfurter, Ryan Gannage, 11 great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters- Mary Bjorne, Irma Thornton, Evelyn Kemp, daughter- Sandra Gannage, and grandson- John Welsh.



Private services were held at the Bjork and Zhulkie Funeral Home, Rev. Lauri O. Maki officiated. Interment will take place in the Ishpeming Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the U.P. Home Health and Hospice.
