Judy was born on July 30, 1940 to Sherwood and Sammy (Cobb) ONeal in Midland, TX. In 1952 at the age of 12 she moved to Ada, OK and graduated from Ada High School. Judy attended William Woods College and received her bachelors degree from East Central University. On May 31, 1968 she married Berwin Lloyd Buttons Howard, Sr. in Lubbock, TX, and they would have celebrated their 50th Anniversary in May.
Judy taught school at Haynes Elementary in Lubbbock and at Floyd, NM. She then taught for many years in Farwell, TX, where she was named teacher of the year. Judy was loved by her students. She was a life-long Baptist and was a member of Indiana Avenue Baptist Church. Judy enjoyed all sports especially watching her grandchildren compete. She also enjoyed traveling with her family. She enjoyed her annual get together with her high school friends known as The Dirty Dozen every fall.
She was preceded in death by father, Sherwood ONeal.
Judy is survived by her loving husband, B.L. Buttons; mother, Sammy ONeal of Ada, OK; daughter, Lisa Stuart and husband, Bob of Lubbock; four step-children, Becky Watkins and husband, Kie of Lubbock; Ber Howard and Suzanne Cooper both of Clovis, NM; and Bowie Howard of Lubbock, TX; two grandsons, Reagan Stuart and Luke Stuart both of Lubbock; six step-grandchildren; three siblings, Jim ONeal of Madill, OK, Peggy Taylor-Clark of Ada, OK, and Steve ONeal and wife, JoAnn of Mustang, OK; along with many loving nieces and nephews.
