He graduated from the Lewisburg (Pa) Academy and later from Bucknell University. He received the degree of Doctor of Medicine at the Univesity of mazryland in 1910 and upon graduation went to Seesport, Maine, where he practiced for ten years. He then moved to Hagerstown and established a large practice.
He was a member of the Masonic Order, the Knight Templar, the Washington County Medical Association, the Cumberland Valley Medical Association and the Maryland State Medical Association, the Alsatia Club, the Maccabees and the Lions Club. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
Dr. Fairchild is survived by his wife, Mrs. Edna Fairchild; two sons, Jack and Max Fairchild; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ambrose Fairchild, Watsontown, Pa.; sister, Miss Fairchild, Watsontown; and a brother, Edward, Watsontown, Pa.
Funeral services were conducted at the Presbyterian Church. The body will be sent o Watsontown, Pa. for burial. Local physicians will be pall-bearers and will accompany the body to Watsontown.
