Thank you to all who visit and leave flowers for our sweet Cook Cook. We are heartbroken.

Cookie was a rescue bird who became our beloved pet in Dec. 1998. Cookie and her sister had been left in their cage in the front yard in the snow by their owners that had moved for anyone who wanted them. My sister in laws boss took them in and asked my sister in law if she wanted them. She took them and asked my husband if he had anything for me for Christmas and he said not yet. She asked if he wanted to give them to me. He called and asked if I wanted them and I said yes. Her sister Sweetie died a few months later.

Cookie was a sweet loveable gray, white and yellow cockatiel who loved riding around on my shoulder all the time til she got old and started loosing her balance. She couldn't fly and I was afraid she would fall off and hurt herself when I was doing things around the house. I started taking her out on my shoulder in the evenings for a few hours each night while I was watching TV. She loved having her head and neck scratched by me and my husband. And use to lean over and put her beak on my cheek and cuddle up to nap sometimes. She also gave kisses to us. She use to whistle like when you whistle to someone to come here and also whistled like a guy whistles at a pretty girl. She loved attention and would come running to the front of her cage when she heard my voice to be took out. She loved taking a bath and playing in the water. She loved millet spray and sunflower seeds and cooked broccoli. She liked chomping on bit of a cracker my husband would give her sometimes. She use to lay eggs but there were no babies since she didn't have a mate. She would sit on them and tuck them under her and try to attack your hand if you got it near her. She would bob her head side to side and hiss like don't touch my eggs. After a few days, she would just leave them alone and I would take them out of her cage. She would have been a good mommy if she had babies. She use to love to sit on my arm at Christmas and help me open gifts or when I was eating something and she had to have a bite.

She had a slight cold a week ago and I had been giving her meds for it and she seemed like she was getting better. But then my one son came in and told me she had coughed a little and fell off her perch in her cage and died. We are absolutely heartbroken over this. I added Dec. 1998 as her birthdate because that was when we got her. She was 20+ human years old.
