Mabel C. Mullins, age103, of the Keen Mountain section of Raven, VA, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018 at her home. She worked as a nurse’s aide at Fort Shelby Hospital in Bristol, VA until it closed in 1964 and Reynolds Memorial Patrick County Hospital in Stuart, VA where she retired in 1984. She was a 40 year breast cancer survivor. Mabel was like a grandmother to all her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. She was the sweetest, most caring person you would ever meet. She loved the Lord.

Mabel was born in Whitewood, VA on April 21, 1914. She was the daughter of the late Jacob “J.W.” Mullins and Sarah Margaret Rhoton Mullins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by fourteen siblings, Marion, Elizabeth, Mary, James, Arthur, Martha, Ernest, Etta, Rebecca, Ella, Nancy, Ted, Bill, and Roy. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Mabel is survived by many nieces and nephews and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 6-9 p.m. Monday, February 12 at Singleton Funeral Service in Cedar Bluff, Virginia.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 13 at Singleton Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor James Ray and Pastor Leonard Meadows officiating. Burial will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, VA. Pallbearers will be nephews. In lieu of flowers donation may be made to Living Word Outreach, 7753 Dismal River Road, Oakwood, VA 24631.
