Paul Marion Wall, also known as Buck or Muscles, 96, departed this earthly life on Friday, February 9, 2018.
The funeral service was held at 11 a.m., Monday, February 12, 2018 at Colonial Funeral Home. Interment followed in Woodland Cemetery with military honors provided by the Rockingham County Honor Guard and the North Carolina National Guard.
Mr. Wall was born on November 23, 1921 in Stokes County, North Carolina to the late Sam A. Wall and Lemma Ward Wall. He was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Madison where he was a past Sunday school teacher and custodian. Marion served his country honorably as a combat infantry sergeant in the United States Army during World War II. He was the recipient of three Purple Heart’s and many other commendations for his bravery and loyalty. He was also a member of the Madison VFW where he served as commander for over twenty years. He was a former co-owner of Wall and Joyce Esso Service Station and later retired from Kallam Oil and Colonial Funeral Home. Marion was devoted to his family. He was the epitome of a gentleman, always going the extra mile to help others. Marion was an avid gardener of flowers and vegetables.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his late wife, Daisy Shelton Wall; brothers, Melvin Lee Wall (Eunice Amos Wall) and Jean Carter Wall (Paula Wall).
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Betty Bolen Wall; son, C.W. Hopper; daughters, Shirley H. Martin, all of Madison, and Joan H. Comer (Dick) of Stoneville; step-sons, Floyd Duncan (Rhea) of Greensboro, Kenneth Duncan (Rachelle) of Conway, SC and David Duncan (Angie) of Hight Point; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
