Robert Henry Finley was born on September 22, 1840 to Robert and Anna (Gatliff) Finley in Tyes Ferry, Whitley County, Kentucky.

Robert Henry Finley was living with his parents in Whitley county, Kentucky in 1850 and 1860 per the Census Records. So far he has not been found in the 1870 or 1880 Census Records. Per the 1900 U.S. Federal Census, Robert is the head of household and had been married 23 years (Abt. 1877). The family is living on a Farm in Whitley County, Kentucky in 1910 and the Census record states that they have been married 21 years (Abt. 1889).

A Marriage record between Sarah M. Bridges and R. H. Finley is found in Campbell County, Kentucky with the marriage date of November 28, 1889.

The children of Robert and Sarah (Bridges) Finely are:
1) Dr. Robert H. Finley (1879–1966) h/o Dora Patterson (divorced) and h/o Louise Gaynor (md. 1932)
2) Annie Finley Lawson (1881–1927) w/o Dr. Nathan Edward Lawson (1873-1940)
3) Mattie Jennie Finley (1891–1971) w/o James Marion Mowery (1882-1951)
4) Ben Franklin Finley (1892–1916), Never married.
5) Maude Finley (1894–?)
6) William McKinley "Mack" Finley (1896–1953), Never married.
7) Dr. Charles Hobert Finley (1898–1928), Never married.

The Cemetery is not noted on Robert's Death Certificate. Robert is likely the Henry Finley that is buried in Maiden Cemetery, Williamsburg, Whitley County, Kentucky; however, this cannot be accurately determined at this time. Since it may be a different Henry Finley, I have elected to create a separate memorial for the time being.

Robert's parents are buried in Maiden Cemetery and his son, Ben Franklin Finley, was noted as being buried in the family cemetery in 1916. It is likely that the land was sold to the Maiden Family after the passing of Robert Henry Finley on August 5, 1919. By the 1920 Census, Robert's wife Sarah is living in Oklahoma with her daughter, Mrs. Annie Finley Lawson. Georgia Ann Sears Maiden (1900-1967), whose family is also buried in this cemetery, is the great Granddaughter of Robert and Anna (Gatliff) Finley.
