Richard Allen Colbert of Lawrence, KS died May 24, 2012 at his home. He was born February 14, 1939 in in Lawrence, KS, to Eugene Richard Colbert and Margie Louise Hodge Colbert. He grew up in Lawrence, KS and worked as Iron Worker. He belonged to the Iron Workers Union Local #10. He married Peggy Kirk Patterson, also of Lawrence, KS, on April 30, 1960 in Miami, OK. They lived in Lawrence, KS. He enjoyed fishing, his dogs, family and his grandchildren. One of his past times besides fishing was going early in the mornings to Sara Lee Donuts to have coffee and talk to his friends. Once they closed, he went to Munchers. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Margie Colbert and his sister Shirley Colbert Long Mercer. His brother Rodney Pendleton Colbert lives in Canon City, CO.He is survived by his children, Rhonda Lynn Colbert Wilcox (Lawrence, KS), Richard Allen Colbert, Jr., (Yukon, OK) and Robin Sue Colbert (Moore, OK). In addition, he had 3 grandchildren, Michael John Wilcox (Lawrence, KS), Christopher John Wilcox (Eudora, KS) and Rebecca Lynn Wilcox (Lawrence, KS). Richard also had 4 great grandchildren, Kambriah Nevaeh Wilcox, Xaihden Alijah Howard and Adonijah Tz'yion Wilcox all of Lawrence, KS and Trenton John Wilcox of Eudora, KS.Memorial service for Richard A. Colbert, 73, Lawrence, will be at 10 a. m. Sat., June 30, at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home. Mr. Colbert died May 14 at his home. He was born Feb. 14, 1939, in Lawrence, the son of Eugene and Margie Hodge Colbert.
Mr. Colbert was a 47-year member of Iron Workers Local #10, a lifetime member of the Eagles Aerie 309, and a lifetime member of Ottawa Elks Lodge 803.
