Bob McMullen Dies in Navarro County
CORSICANA, Texas, Nov. 13. - Funeral services for Captain R. M. (Bob) McMullen, 81 years old, Confederate veteran and pioneer resident of Navarro County, who died at his home in the Chatfield community Friday, were held Saturday with burial in the Chatfield Cemetery.
Squire McMullen, as friends called him, was born in Georgia and came to Navarro County in 1876, settling in the Chatfield community. He was one of the leading figures in Methodism in this section of the country. He had been a steward in the Methodist Church for more than a half century.

Two sons and five daughters survive, M. J. McMullen of Corsicana, Carl McMullen of Chatfield, Mrs. Gordon Elkins of Richland, Mrs. William Tharp of Chatfield, Mrs. Bertha Hoffman of Corsicana, Mrs. Will Wright of Corsicana and Mrs. Mary Holsey of Chatfield.

PIONEER RESIDENT OF NAVARRO COUNTY DIED AT CHATFIELD
CAPTAIN R. M. M’’MULLEN DIED SUDDENLY AT HOME FRIDAY MORNING

Captain Bob McMullen aged 87 years, pioneer resident of Navarro County and one of the best known Confederate veterans and churchmen of this section died suddenly at his home in Chatfield community Friday morning at 11 o’clock. The funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with interment in the Chatfield Cemetery. The deceased was born in Georgia and came to Chatfield in 1870. He was a member of Camp Winkler United Confederate Veterans.

Mr. McMullen had been a steward in the Methodist church for more than a half century and had been superintendent of the Sunday School at Chatfield for a like period of time. He was one of the best known men in the county.

Two sons and five daughters survive as follows: M. J. McMullen, Corsicana; Carl McMullen, Chatfield; Mrs. Gordon Elkins, Richland; Mrs. William Tharp, Chatfield; Ms. Bertha Hoffman, Corsicana; Mrs. Will Wright , Corsicana; Mrs. Mary Holsey, Chatfield.

Mr. McMullen was well-known in Corsicana and his friends stated, when they learned of his death, that one of the best men in Navarro county had gone. “Squire McMullen was one of the best and biggest citizens of Navarro county,” another added.

PIONEER RESIDENT OF NAVARRO COUNTY IS LAID TO REST
Funeral services for Captain R. M. (Bob) McMullen, aged 81, Confederate veteran and prominent churchman, pioneer resident of Navarro county, who died at his home in the Chatfield community about 11 o’clock Friday morning, were held Saturday afternoon at 2 o’clock with interment in the Chatfield Cemetery. Squire McMullen, as his legion of friends and acquaintances called him, was born in Georgia and came to Navarro county in 1870, settling in the Chatfield community. He has been identified with the Methodist church since early manhood and was one of the leading figures in Methodism in this section of the country. He has been a steward in the Methodist church for more than a half century and a superintendent of the Sunday school for almost the same period. His friends and acquaintances denote him as a “good and great man,” and his death, “a blow to his community and Navarro county.”

A number of his Confederate brothers planned to attend the funeral services. He was a member of Camp Winkler, United Confederate Veterans.

Two sons and five daughters survive him.
