Brice McNeely Passes In 94th Year
A resident of this district for nearly 94 years, Brice McNeely, died last Friday, following a lengthy illness. He was in his 94th year. Born in the Township of Beckwith, he was the son of the late James McNeely and his wife, Margaret Edwards. In 1889, he married the former Sarah Jane Gillan in Pakenham. His wife predeceased him 12 years ago. In his younger days Mr McNeely operated a dairy in Carleton Place and took up farming in Beckwith Township. He attended St James' Anglican Church ans was a member of the Orange Lodge and the Black Receptory. Surviving are three sons, Jim, of Beckwith; Frank of Carleton Place; Arthur on the homestead; one daughter, Mrs John (Mildred) Lynch of Ramsay and one sister, Mrs Elizabeth Ramsbottom of Conn., Ontario. Another son Brice, died in 1945. The funeral service was held on Sunday at 1.30 p.m. from the Fleming Bros Funeral Home to St James' Anglican Church with the Rev D.F. Weegar officiating. Interment was in Pine Grove cemetery. The pallbearers were: W.E. McNeely, George H. Doucett, Weland Gillan, Howard McNeely, John McNeely and Williard McNeely.
