James Tyler "Pepper" Culpepper, 90, of Fort Smith, Arkansas went to be with our Lord Jesus on Wednesday, February 7, 2018. J. T. was born to Tyler and Clara in Cherokee County, Alabama. Pepper was a farmer and fisherman at heart, but his work in life was to be a mechanic and a free enterprise businessman. Those who had the privilege of knowing J.T. would soon find their arms filled with vegetables from his garden in Milltown or their ear filled with fascinating stories from all the trinkets he wielded and traded. His lovely bride was Jimmie Culpepper who complimented him with her spunk and life set to music. One could find Pepper at the Bluff Ave Baptist "Church-House" on Sunday as a self-appointed greeter who always had a smile and a piece of candy to sweeten each person who entered. When his wife passed he was soon greeted with great-grandchildren who put that sparkle back in his eye and he loved them with all his heart.

J. T. was preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Culpepper. He is survived by an only son, Ricky Culpepper and wife Joan, an only grandchild, Jennifer Furlow and husband David, and two great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be Sunday, February 11 from 2 – 7 p.m. at McConnell Funeral Home in Greenwood, where the family will visit with friends from 5 – 7 p.m.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, February 12 at McConnell Funeral Home Chapel in Greenwood with interment at Dawson Cemetery in Milltown.

Pallbearers will be Wes Nichols, Carl Griffith, Spencer Griffith, Johnny Nichols, Larry Evans, Greg Motely, Brandon Motley, and Jason Motley. Honorary pallbearers will be Gary Don Nichols, Randy Samo, and Dan Marley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bluff Ave Baptist Church, 2300 Bluff Ave., Fort Smith, AR 72901 or The Gideons International for Bibles.
