Milton Gardner went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 2, 2018. Milton was born in Swenson, Texas on January 18, 1925 to Effie Mae and Ward Gardner. He was the youngest of three sons. After high school, he served as a Navy pilot for two years during WWII.
Milton went to Hardin Simmons University and completed his Master’s Degree in Economics. He taught at Texas Wesleyan College while attending Seminary at Southwestern in Ft. Worth, Texas.
Milton pastored at Friendly Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas from 1963-1991, 28 years, as well as served as interim at over 12 churches after retiring from full time pastorate.
Milton is proceeded in death by his parents, Ward and Effie Mae Gardner and two brothers, Preston and Clifton and a daughter, Debbie Pointer. He is also proceeded in death by his “partner in ministry”, Zell, whom he was married to for 58 years. He is survived by his daughter, Jan LaJoie, her husband, Rod, and son, Taylor of Longview, Texas, his son, Danny Gardner, wife Lea Bob, and grandsons, Kenneth and Keith of Georgetown, Texas, Daniel and David Pointer of Bullhead, Arizona.
