Mrs. Charles Fenton Hart Jr.
Kay Hart, 70, went to her eternal home in Heaven on August 19, 2008. Born in El Paso Kay Congdon on April 22, 1938, Kay was a lifelong El Pasoan with a deep pride of her home town and home state of Texas. Her father Rendell Congdon was the owner of Congdon Machine Works for many years, and also owned and operated El Paso's first drive-in restaurant, Old Town Pump. Her mother, Francis Congdon (Edwards) was a nurse for many years, and was a descendent of one of Fort Davis, Texas's founding families. Kay attended Dudley and Mesita Elementary schools, and graduated from El Paso High School in 1957. She attended Texas Western College, and was a proud Miner her entire life. She married Charles F. Hart, Jr. in 1961, a lifelong educator who was named Texas State Superintendent of the Year when he served as Superintendent of Canutillo Independent School District. Kay and Charlie recently celebrated 47 years of marriage in July. Kay was known for her lively, happy nature, and her giving, unconditionally caring heart and charitable soul. She was also an incurable animal lover, and will be missed by her devoted dog, Honey. She is survived by her husband, Charles F. Hart, Jr.; son Charlie III, his wife Susan and their sons Charlie Rio and Dusty River; daughter Lisa Kay Tate, her husband Rick and daughter Molly Kay and Erin; . She was preceded in death by her parents, Rendell and Francis Congdon. She was a devoted wife, mother and generous loving friend to all who knew her. She was most proud of her four grandchildren, who she loved whole heartedly.
