EUGENE BECKER
The death of Eugene Becker of this village occurred at 6 o'clock Tuesday morning at the Clark Nursing Home in Richfield Springs where he had been a patient for the past two weeks. He was 87 years oldr Mr. Becker was a retired farmer, and for more than a quarter century, worked for the Susan Fenimore Cooper Foundation in Cooperstown. He was born in Pleasant-Brook on December 18, 1872, a son of Marcus A. and Edith (Pearson) Becker. ..... He married the former Miss Nellie Shepard on January 3, 1895 at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Willard N. Shepard on what is now a part of the Glimmerglen Farm north of Cooperstown. ...... He is survived by his wife, four sons, Clyde S. Becker, vice-president of the National Commercial Bank and Trust Company and manager of its Cooperstown office, Willis E. Becker of Preble, Frederick W. Becker of Dallas, Tex., and Edwin P. Becker of Sherman Oak, Calif., seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the First Baptist Church ...... Burial will be in Lakewood Cemetery. Members of Otsego Lodge will conducted a Masonic service at the Tillapaugh Funeral Home here on Wednesday evening at 8 o'clock.
