John F. Gilliam, 83, of Ocala, FL, went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 2, 2018. John was born in Asheville, NC to Alfred Thurl and Carrie Mae Pittillo Gilliam. He moved to Ocala in 1977 from Ormond Beach, FL. He managed Cloth World retail fabric store in Ocala. John was a US Navy veteran aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. He had a great enthusiasm for life. He enjoyed his walks, dancing, fishing, outdoors, travelling and spending time with his family. John was predeceased by brothers Edwin W. Gilliam and Sherrill Gilliam, and sister Barbara Lee Gilliam Pressley. He is survived by daughters Joanne and husband Darryl Rejko and Jean and husband Bill Merchant, and son Jonathan Brad and wife Faith Gilliam, grandson Christopher and wife Samantha Rejko, sister Shirley Whittemore, and two brothers, Jody Gilliam and Mack Gilliam. He also had many special nieces and nephews. John will be interred at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. A memorial service will be held at 3:00 pm on Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, 910 SE Silver Springs Blvd. Ocala, FL 34470 (352)-629-7171.
