Kathryn Amanda Bailey was born December 5, 1924 in Plainfield, NJ. She was the daughter of the late Grace Olivia and Ulysses Phillips and the sister of three brother and three sisters.
She graduated from Plainfield New Jersey High School. She worked in a restaurant, hat factory, nurse aide, teacher's aide, house keeper, assistant librarian, and retired at age 67. She volunteered at Elizabeth Regional Hospital for 20 years.
She was a good, God fearing Christian and a member of Marsh Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church. Kathryn never met a stranger. She greeted everyone with a warm smile and always had a helping hand. She was married to the late John Henry Bailey. They are the parents of one daughter and four sons.
