SHORE, John M. "Jack" John M. "Jack" Shore, age 90, passed away on Feb 4, 2018 at Pebblebrook Skilled Nursing in Stone Mountain GA. He was the widower of Sylvia A. H. Shore. They had been married for 59 years at the time of her death in 2013. Jack was born in Lewistown PA and was the son of Harold and Bessie Shore. He attended school in Lewistown and joined the Army in 1946 at age 17. He served 20 years in the Army and retired as a Chief Warrant Officer 4 in June 1966. He worked with Flintkote Building Materials for 15 years after the Army and then worked with several smaller companies prior to retirement. He was a member of Mountain Park United Methodist Church for many years and participated in the Sunday School programs there. He generously gave his time to multiple charity operations in and around his church for many years. His hobbies included gardening and reading. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and uncle. He was predeceased by three brothers and both parents. He is survived by two sons; Steven Shore and his wife Peggie Shore and Tom Shore and his wife Sharyn Starnes Shore. He has two grandchildren, Chris Shore and Katie Shore Williams, as well as four great grandchildren with one more due in June 2018. Jack served in the Army during WWII, Korea and Viet Nam and received multiple commendations. He has said that one of his proudest completed assignments was the integration of a black unit into his own unit when he was a Sergeant. The funeral will be held on Saturday, Feb 10, 2018 with visitation at 1PM and the service at 3PM. The service will be at 2594 Stone Mountain Highway, Snellville GA. Following cremation he will join his wife at the National Cemetery in Canton GA on Feb 16, 2018 at 1PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Patriot Guard organization.
