Matthew Thomas Bowman, 27, was received into glory by our Lord Jesus Christ on Monday, December 11, 2017 after a short illness. Matthew was a talented musician whose musical abilities were truly a gift from God. He won numerous awards and his favorite was the two Church of God teen talent runner up awards in keyboard. Matthew was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Gilford Thomas Bowman and Dorothy Francis Bowman. He is survived by his parents, Clifford Thomas Bowman and Sharon Kay Johnson Bowman; maternal grandparents, James and Fay Johnson; uncles, Tim and wife Tammy Bowman and Scott Johnson and wife Jennifer; aunts, Patricia Bowman and Connie Bowman; special cousins, Eric Dehart, Stephen Johnson, Keith Barnes and Kayla Barnes; a very special church family, Stevens Church of God and the Virginia Church of God family; his Crutchfield family; special friend, Joseph Salyers; special guitar teacher, Chris Rose; piano teachers, Carol Bolling and Pam Vanover; and a host of other relatives and friends. The family would like to make mention of the Gladeville Presbyterian Church, Wise United Methodist Church, Lighthouse Family Ministries, Zion Family Ministries, Beverly Hills Assembly of God and the Wise County Christian School for their love and support of Matthew. They would also like to thank Wise Police Department, Wise Volunteer Rescue Squad and Norton Community Hospital for their heroic efforts to bring Matthew back to us. But our Heavenly Father had other plans. God does all things good, He never makes a mistake and we are depending on Him to get us through. We are confident that we will see Matt again. Family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. till time of services at 7:00 P.M. Thursday, December 14, 2017 at the Sturgill Funeral Home in Wise, VA.
