Mittie Mae's first husband Claude Dennis Taylor was killed during World War II. She told me that they were married just a few days before he was shipped out and never came home.

Mittie Mae McDaniel Straw was born September 25, 1918 in Combine, Texas and died January 30, 2011 in Fort Worth, Texas.

She was an active member of the Crandall United Methodist Church and the Crandall Senior Citizens.

She is survived by her grandchildren, Stephanie McSpadden, John McDaniel and Micheal McDaniel, great grandchildren Ty Davis McSpadden and Colby Alexander McDaniel and many great nieces and nephews who will always remember the good times at "Aunt Mittie's".

A memorial services is planned for March 26 at 2:00pm at Crandall United Methodist Church at 406 North 4th St. in Crandall, Texas. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Organization, American Red Cross or by doing a kindness for others.
