Tempe - Wanda Carr was born October 1, 1913, to Clarence and Elizabeth (Umble) Keenen in West Liberty, OH, the fourth of ten children. She died in Tempe, AZ, January 30, 2018, having recently celebrated her 104th birthday. She graduated from West Liberty High School in 1932 and also from Indiana College of Beauty Culture located in Indianapolis, IN. Wanda paid for her own education. Wanda was mainly a homemaker and also worked a few years as a beautician and a store sales clerk. Wanda was baptized at twelve years of age and became a member of the Stony Creek Church of the Brethren near West Liberty, OH. In Arizona she attended the Lakeshore Bible Church of God. She eloped to be married to Russell Carr of Degraff, OH, September 3, 1939, in Carrollton, KY, and they enjoyed 53 years of marriage before his death in 1992. They moved to Arizona in 1951 with their two sons, Ronald and John. She enjoyed playing golf with her family and was also a member of bowling leagues along with her husband. Wanda bowled until she was 88 years old when a colon cancer surgery ended her bowling career. She loved to travel and visited most of the national parks in the western states plus the adventures at the Seattle and San Antonio World Fairs. The desire to travel and the joy to be on the move kept her driving on her own until she was 97. Wanda enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and other sewing crafts. Eight brothers and sisters preceded her in death: Bertha King, Luther Keenen, Gerry Fergus, Ray Keenen, Clarence Keenen, Ruth Keenen, Fred Keenan, and David Keenen. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law: Ronald and Sandra, Prescott, AZ, and John and Rachel, Phoenix. Grandchildren: Leisl (Michael) Childers, Cedar Falls, IA; Brian (Tricia) Carr, Burbank, CA; Deborah Denhart, Lake Oswego, Oregon; Jeffrey Carr, Tempe, AZ Great-grandchildren: Xyla Denhart, Ezra Denhart, Bayleigh Carr.
