Obituary for Dwayne Darryl Smith

Reverend Dwayne D. Smith departed this life on August 16, 2016. Rev. Dwayne Smith was born in Memphis Tennessee, to the late Ernestine Wilson and Joseph Mason of Seattle Washington. He was educated in the Shelby County school system and majored in English at LeMoyne-Owen College in Memphis Tennessee. He also attended Southeast College of Technology where he received his degree in Computer Electronics. At an early age, he professed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and joined New Era Missionary Baptist Church, under the pastoral leadership of the late Sampson A. Towsend Sr., in Memphis where he later taught Sunday School and served in the Multi-Media Ministry. Rev. Dwayne was united in Holy Matrimony to Rev. Carla Smith in 1989. Rev. Dwayne and his family joined Cornerstone Peaceful Bible Baptist Church in 1999. At Cornerstone, Rev. Dwayne was a Mighty Man of Valor, Ordained Deacon, Sunday Teacher, minister in the Healing Rooms and served with the Seed of Judah youth ministry. In 2014, Rev. Dwayne was licensed as a minister of the gospel at Cornerstone Peaceful Bible Baptist Church in Upper Marlboro Maryland under the pastoral leadership of Pastors Daniel and Sabrina Mangrum. Rev. Dwayne served the United States as a reservist Chaplain Assistant in the Air Force National Guard for over 16 years. Rev. Dwayne also retired from Federal Express after 34 years of service as a Senior Technology Analyst. He leaves to cherish his loving wife, Carla, children De'niz, Sherry, and Bryson, grandchildren Jamiyah and Jayden, sister Sheryl Moorehead of Memphis, and in-laws Joyce C. Montgomery (Walter) and Maurice Farmer of Memphis Tennessee. Family and friends will unite on Saturday, August 27, 2016 from 10:00am until time of service 11:00am at Cornerstone Peaceful Bible Baptist Church, 9010 Frank Tippett Rd., Upper Marlboro, MD. Interment will follow service at Trinity Memorial Gardens, Waldorf, MD.
