Reginald David Nelson, 93, passed away January 27, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born in Water Glen, Alberta, Canada to the late Carl Hjalmer Nelson and Agnes Emelia (Bjorkgren) Nelson.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mae Clara Edith (Ericson) Nelson. He is also survived by four children; Janet Jeffers (Daryl), Daniel Nelson (Marta), Karen Lee (Brad) and Kristen Cone (Michael); fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Following high school, he spent a year at a Bible institute and then attended the University of Alberta (Canada) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and graduate work at Iowa State University in organic chemistry leading to a PhD degree.

Upon moving to Columbus, OH in 1956, he worked for Chemical Abstract Services until his retirement in 1989. Also during that time he and his wife were faithful members of Calvary Bible Church where he served as treasurer for 25 years and was an active member of the congregation until they moved to Indianapolis, IN, and ultimately to Greenville, SC. He was also a supporter of the Christian camp ministry and missions.

He will be sadly missed by his family but he is in the presence of the Lord that he served so faithfully.

Funeral services were held Friday, February 2, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Mackey Mortuary.
