Obituary;
Mabel Marie Sheppard, 92, of Washington C.H., died Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at 4:15 p.m. at the Court House Manor Nursing Home where she had been a resident the past year. She had been in failing health.
Mrs. Sheppard was born April 20, 1912 in Bondtown, VA to Sim and Laura Buchanan Bond. She lived most of her life in Tennessee and North Carolina before moving to Washington C.H. in 2003.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Sheppard and by three brothers and four sisters.
Mrs. Sheppard is survived by five children, Carolyn Clevenger and her husband, Cecil, and Pat Whittmer and her husband, Dave, all of Washington C.H., Elaine Hauck of Bloomingburg, Larry Sheppard and his wife, Joy, of Mansfield, Ohio and Douglas Sheppard of Highland, NC. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Friday, June 18, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. at the Washington Cemetery. Burial will be under the direction of the Kirkpatrick Funeral Home in Washington C.H. There will be no calling hours
