Aubrey Collins Cope, 96, of Wichita Falls, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Saturday, February 3, 2018.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 7, 2018, in Lunn's Chapel with Mr. Ken Holsberry officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends at a visitation from 7:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Lunn's.
A son of the late Bessie (Netherland) and George Cope, Aubrey was born on January 20, 1922, in Red Oak, Oklahoma. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII, and is one of the few remaining survivors. Aubrey worked for Wilson Manufacturing Company, retiring after 42 years of service. He loved camping, fishing and never tired of it. He also enjoyed fish fries with family and friends.
Along with his parents, Aubrey was also preceded in death by his wife, Anita Pearl Cope; daughter, Andrea Gayle Dwyer; brother, Edgar Cope; and sister, Thelma Gillen.
He is survived by sons, Don Cope and wife, Liz of Graham; Dale Cope and wife, Carolyn of Wichita Falls; brother, Herman Cope and wife, Melissie of Wichita Falls; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.
