Lee was a 1958 graduate of Harper High School. He had attended Park Place Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church and belonged to the Buhler Jaycees. Lee served in the Kansas Army National Guard. He owned and operated Lee's Texaco. Lee had worked for Clay and Reno Townships, retiring from Reno Township as foreman. Fishing, auto racing and motorcycling were his favorite hobbies.
On September 11, 1964, he married Shirley Mae Barkman in Hutchinson. She died February 18, 2007. Survivors include: their children and spouses, Kimberly Shull and husband Kevin of Buhler, Brian and wife Jennifer of Hutchinson; sister, Jean Winchell and husband Gary of Kiowa; brother, David and wife Goldie of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents; brother, Kenneth; and sister, Judy Silcott.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at Elliott Chapel, with Pastor Darrel Grubbs presiding. Burial with military honors will be conducted by Kansas Army National Guard at Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Visitation is from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary and Crematory, Hutchinson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Reno County Veterans' Memorial, in care of Elliott Mortuary, 1219 N. Main, Hutchinson, KS 67501
