A beloved family man, Byron C. Pierce passed away Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016. We will gather for fellowship and remembrance from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. Family and friends will gather to celebrate his life of 84 years on Saturday, Jan. 23, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Monterey Baptist Church. Byron was born on May 11, 1931, to August and Alice (Whitling) Pierce in Olden, Texas. He graduated from Grandfalls High School and Texas Tech University with a Bachelor's degree in Animal Husbandry. He married the love of his life, Kathryn Martin, on Aug. 5, 1951, in Grandfalls. Byron worked as Assistant County Agent in Lamesa and County Agent in Gail. In 1959, he moved to Lubbock and purchased AAA City Delivery. Byron was an active member of Monterey Baptist Church where he served as deacon, taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother; and a grandson. Byron is survived by three sons, Randy (Susan) Pierce of Lubbock, Dale Pierce of Ponca City, OK, and Tim (Lacretia) Pierce of Lubbock; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Alice Marie Kester. Memorials are suggested to Hospice of Lubbock.
