Poet. Born in Lleida, Torres was the main representative of Symbolism in Catalan Literature. He began his career as a journalist for the newspaper "La Jornada", but at the age of 25 he contracted tuberculosis and spent the rest of his life in a sanitorium. Torres' work powerfully reflected the hard times after the Spanish Civil War. It was published posthumously by his friend and writer Joan Sales, under the simple title "Poesies" ("Poems"). Torres died in Puig d'Olena, Barcelona.
