August 19, 1939 ~ January 29, 2018

"Danny was a good son, brother, husband and father!"

On January 29th, 2018, Daniel "Danny" Jay Russell passed away peacefully after a long battle with Alzheimer's in his home in Vancouver, Washington, at the age of 78. Danny was born on August 19th, 1939 in Yakima, Washington to Douglas K. and Esther (Bonney) Russell. He had 2 sisters, Deanne and Janice, and one brother, Timothy.

Danny was an All-State football player at Fort Vancouver High School in Vancouver, washington and was always very proud of his number "27". He graduated June of 1957.

In October of 1957, Danny enlisted in the United States Air Force. After serving 4 years, one in Turkey, he was honorably discharged.

Danny met his beautiful bride Jan and was married on June 18th, 1966 and were married until the end. They had two sons, Douglas and Michael.

Danny's favorite activities included softball, golf and bowling and enjoyed them until the very end.

Danny is survived by his wife, Jan; mother, Esther; sisters, Janice and Deanne; brother, Tim; sons, Douglas and Michael; as well as grandsons, Tanner and Caleb and granddaughters, Grace and Catelyn.

A memorial service was held at New Heights Church in Vancouver, Washington on Saturday, February 17th, 2018. Danny's remains were placed at Willamette National Military Cemetery in Portland, Oregon.

The family asks that memorial donations be made to Hope Dementia Support in Vancouver, Washington.
