Sharon Marie Hicks HOLDER (1942 - 2018)

Our beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother, Sharon Marie Hicks Holder passed January 28th, 2018 in Spokane, WA. Born on May 20th, 1942 in Twin Falls, Idaho to Don C. and Bertha M. Hicks. Raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. Member of the Roman Catholic Church. Married to Gerald "Gerry" A. Holder on November 7th, 1981 in Spokane, Washington. Preceded in death by her parents and her son, Jeffrey D. Greer. Survived by her husband, Gerald; her son, Ryan W. Barrett (wife Ashley); daughter, Paige B. Agidius (husband James); brother, Greg D. Hicks (wife Vickie); sister, Beverly A. Noyce (husband Robert); brother-in-law James F. Holder (wife Judee); four delightful grandchildren: Evan D., Andrew J., and Colin A. Agidius, and Benjamin Barrett, plus numerous nieces and nephews.
Sharon graduated from Granite High School with high honors. During her high school years she was the lead in the high school play, president of the pep club and editor of the school newspaper. Sharon was extremely popular, driven, and meticulous.
After high school Sharon worked for Valley State Bank in Salt Lake City, Utah. During those years she dabbled in modeling and became the Utah Ski Association Ski Queen. In the early 70's Sharon moved to Spokane with her sons Jeff and Ryan. She quickly became active in the community and joined the Spokane Welcome Wagon. Sharon worked as the Assistant Branch Manager for Kaiser/Mead credit union where she met and later married the love of her life, Gerry.
In the early 80's Sharon was able to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a housewife and full time mother. Sharon maintained many friendships throughout the years. She had a knack for making those close to her feel special by being a gracious host and carefully planning parties and events. Sharon was a ray of sunshine, had a fantastic sense of humor, was a perfectionist, kept an immaculate home, and was very proud of her beautiful head of red hair. Sharon and Gerry had season tickets to the Spokane Chiefs for over 20 years. They also closely followed the Gonzaga men's basketball team.
Sharon was one of a kind which has left a hole in our hearts; she will be truly missed but never forgotten. Rest in peace, sweet Sharon; may you fly with the angels and bless us with your wonderful memory and inspiration.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Spokane and Summit Cancer care for their dedication to assisting her this past year and in her final days. The family would also like to thank all those who have sent cards, flowers, food, and well wishes.
Sharon will be cremated and laid to rest alongside her son, Jeff, in the mausoleum at the Holy Cross Cemetery in Spokane, Washington. Family and friends will be invited to a celebration of her life later this year.
