Joe Bill McDowell, age 60, of Buffalo, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at his home in Buffalo.

Joe was born January 6, 1958 in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was the son of Billy Eugene and Ruby Morine (Bonner) McDowell.

Joe had worked in boat sales for a number of years for several companies throughout the Ozarks. He was a caring friend and neighbor to a great number of people throughout his life and was an active member of the Macks Creek and Buffalo communities. Among his many interests, Joe enjoyed bass fishing and operated a bass tournament for a number of years. He also loved music and formed a singing group that would meet at each others homes on a monthly basis. Joe was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan and could always be found cheering on his favorite team.

Joe was a member of Macks Creek Masonic Lodge #433 where he served as past Master. He was also a member of Macks Creek Eastern Star #20 where he was currently serving as Worthy Patron, and a member of First Baptist Church of Macks Creek.

Four years ago, Joe received a gift from his close friend, Toni Allen, a kidney, that enabled him to live his life to the fullest. Joe always felt much gratitude and indebtedness to Toni for her incredible selflessness.

Joe is survived by his step-father, William E. Chapman of Buffalo, Missouri; his brother, Ron McDowell and wife, Helen, of Fair Grove, Missouri; his sister Linda Clopp and husband, Mike, of Macks Creek, Missouri; his nephew Ryan McDowell and wife, Katy; his nieces Cecily Wilkinson and husband, Mike, Erin Burtis and husband, Eric, and Sarah VanBibber and husband, Kevin; great nephews and nieces Lauren Wilkinson, Charlie Wilkinson, Ava Burtis, Carter VanBibber, Harper Burtis, Zetta McDowell and Jesse McDowell; along with several other relatives and many friends.
