Ramona Elaine Walker Henderson, 84, of Bloomington, passed away Friday, February 2, 2018 at Heritage Health, Normal.
Ramona was born August 24, 1933, in Heyworth, the daughter of Dean and Elsie (Graham) Halsey. She married Merton R. Walker on December 3, 1950. He passed away on January 28, 1996. She later married Ivan F. Henderson on October 4, 2003. He passed away on January 27, 2015.
She is survived by her daughters, Sherry (Mark) Hubbard of Bloomington and Gail (Dan) Bozarth of El Paso; five grandchildren, Matt (Rebecca) Hubbard; Aaron (Kellee) Hubbard, both of Bloomington; Adam (Anna) Hubbard of Fairview, TX; Jenny Bozarth of Bloomington; and Sarah (Dimitri) Rousseau of Chicago; ten great-grandchildren, Emily, Brian, Kaylee, and Krista Hubbard, all of Bloomington; Codey Wirtz of Bloomington; Caleb, Jessica, Heather, and Lauren Hubbard, all of Fairvew, TX; and Amelia Rousseau of Chicago; a sister, Mavis (John) Lanham. She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister.
Ramona was a member of Eastview Christian Church in Normal for nearly 60 years. She was a past Sunday school and VBS teacher and youth group leader.
She was a loving wife, stay-at-home mom and always there for us. She was an exceptional grandma. She answered to Mo-Mo to the five beloved grandchildren. She dearly loved her two sons-in-law, her sister Mavis Lanham and her nieces and nephews.
She was the school secretary at Bent School in Bloomington for several years. She was an avid ISU Redbird fan with season tickets to men's football and basketball way back to the Horton Fieldhouse days. She traveled extensively in the US and many foreign countries. She volunteered in the surgical lounge at Bro-Menn, led tours at the David Davis Mansion and was a past Brownie and Girl Scout Leader.
The last nine years she made her home in the Legacy Unit at Heritage Health in Normal. We would like to thank the staff there for the loving care they gave her through the years and for the care and concern they showed for her and for us the day of her passing. They were a blessing to our family in every way.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 16, 2018 at Eastview Christian Church, Normal. Pastor Gary York will officiate. Visitation will take place two hours prior to the service. Inurnment will be held at East Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eastview Christian Church Missions, Cornerstone Christian Academy, or to a charity of donors choice. Online condolences may be shared with the family at eastlawn-bloomington.com.
