Ruby M. Patterson, 69, of Genoa died Wednesday, January 31, 2018 at OSF St. Anthony's Medical Center.


She was born July 17, 1948 in Hot Springs, NC. She was the daughter of Herman and Effie (Ledford) Puryear. She married Charles Patterson on November 4, 1967.


When she was younger she loved playing basketball and riding through the mountains on her bicycle. As an adult she enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren, watching the Chicago Bulls, gambling, traveling on vacations, making and eating red-eyed gravy, playing cards, and shopping.


Survivors include her husband, Chuck; two daughters, Tina (Steve) Overton and Korri (Eric) Rich; four grandchildren, Tony, Vinny, Cain and Ari; four siblings, Waylon (Joy) Puryear, Mildred Shelton, Carolyn Summarell and Clyde Puryear; and numerous nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her parents and four siblings, Martha Jean, Charles, Raeburn and Jackie.


Her visitation will be on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Slater-Butala Funeral Home of Genoa. A funeral mass will be on Thursday, Feb. 8th at 10:30 AM at the St. Catherine of Genoa Church, 340 S. Stott St., Genoa, IL. Burial will be at the St. Catherine Cemetery.
