Laura Lee Schmidt, 85, of Lake Charles, LA, died at 7:20 AM on Friday, February 2, 2018 in a local hospital.



Mrs. Schmidt was born August 3, 1932 in Mellwood, AR, and lived in Monroe, LA for a number of years before moving to Lake Charles forty-five years ago. She was a member of Victory Baptist Church and loved the Lord dearly. She was an avid golfer and enjoyed bowling on a number of leagues throughout the years. Mrs. Schmidt had a heart of gold and loved life. She cherished every moment with her family and treated everyone as if they were her own. She will be remembered for her great cooking and will be missed dearly.



Mrs. Schmidt is survived by her daughter, Donna LeLeux and husband Mark of Lake Charles; sons, Ronald Edward Smith and wife Mary of Houma, LA, Kenneth Wayne Smith of Ruston, LA, and Larry Alan Schmidt and wife Patti of Harvey, LA; sister, Anita Otwell of Ruston, LA; brother, William D. Rogers of Ruston, LA; grandchildren, Laura Brown, Shelby Clark (Aaron), Lindsey Allen (Clay), Sandra Chustz (Joseph), Ronald Edward Smith, Jr. and Caitlin Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Graham, Alex, Kinsley, and Ansley; special friend, Collette Bourgeois, who was there and helped in every capacity; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends that she loved dearly.



She was preceded in death by her first husband, W.D. Smith; second husband of fifty years, Donald Schmidt; parents, Will and Kattie Rogers; two brothers; and two sisters.



Her graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 4, 2018 at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. Reverend Wayne Dartez will officiate.
