Mrs. Maria Esther Rosario Avilez Ball, of Silver Creek, went home to heaven on Wednesday, January 31, 2018, after 84 years on this earth.

Mrs. Ball was born on June 10, 1933, in Manati, Puerto Rico, daughter of the late Juan Rosario Cortez and the late Carmen Josephina Avilez Lugo. She grew up in Puerto Rico, where she met her husband, Bobby Earl Ball. They married on September 26, 1957, and returned to the United States in November 1957. She was a devoted and loving wife and momma. Maria enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling, especially to the casinos. She loved country music and cooking for her family (dinner was always on the table at 5 pm). Mrs. Ball was of the Protestant faith and could be found on Sunday mornings listening to a preacher on the TV or radio. She was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Bobby E. Ball, Silver Creek; daughter, Maria DiAnne Garrett (Larry), Rome; son, Bobby Russell Ball, Sr. (Pamela), Aragon; son, Larry Danny Ball (Jacqueline), Rome; daughter, Nereida Esther Blankenship (Joseph Levi), Rome; son, Charles William Ball (Kevette), Lindale; son, Bobby Russell Ball, Jr. (Sarah), Lindale; 13 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; brother, Enrique Rosario Avilez (Lydia Esther); brother, Jose Raphel Rosario Avilez; sister, Elionilda Rosario Avilez; sister, Nilda Rosario Avilez (Luis Aldino), all from Puerto Rico.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 5, 2018, at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, with Brother Timothy Patnode officiating. Interment will follow in the Rome Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Monday at the funeral home from 12 noon until 1:45 pm. Pallbearers are asked to meet at the funeral home by 1:30 pm and include: Adrian Ball, Luke Fowler, Briar Ball, Darian Ball, Johnathan Goulet, Christian Ball and James Shell.

Henderson & Sons Funeral Home, South Chapel, has charge of the funeral arrangements.
