Rev. James Talmadge Moore, 80, of Iola, TX, passed away Sunday, September 10, 2017, at his home.
A gathering of family and friends will take place from 6:00 to 7:00 pm Thursday, September 14, 2017, at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1511 Hwy. 90, in Anderson. A parish rosary and vigil service will be offered at 7:00 pm. Simultaneously that evening, Evensong for the Faithful Departed will be offered at 7:00 pm at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church, 7809 Shadyvilla Lane, in Houston, with his body lying in state in the Holy House Chapel throughout the evening.
A Requiem Mass will be offered at 10:30 am Friday, September 15, 2017, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church, celebrated by the Most Rev. Steven J. Lopes. Following cremation, Fr. James’s ashes will be placed in the columbarium at Our Lady of Walsingham.

Serving as pallbearers will be Stephen Moore, Eric Spivey, Chris Sinclair, Ben Leman, James Leman, Ben Leman, Jr., Thai-Binh, Luke Leman, Dominic Sinclair and Andrew Spivey.
Fr. James was born Friday, October 23, 1936 in Houston to Mendom Talmadge and Bessie Rheta Aultman Moore. He received his bachelor of arts in history from the University of Houston and a masters of divinity from the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest in Austin. He also earned a masters and doctorate in history from Texas A&M University. Fr. James was co-founding pastor of Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church and served as pastor for 21 years, retiring in 2006. He also taught history at North Harris County Community College for 17 years. For the past 4 years he was an assistant priest at St. Stanislaus Catholic Church in Anderson.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Linda Lytz Moore of Iola; his children, Wendy Spivey and husband Eric of Nashville, TN, Stephen Moore and wife Ann of Cypress, Virginia Sinclair and husband Chris of Keller, TX and Christie Leman and husband Ben of Iola; his grandchildren, James, Mai-Linh, Bennie, Thai-Binh, Olivia, Luke, Dominic, Andrew, Evelyn and Caroline. Fr. James was preceded in death by his parents, and a granddaughter, Anh-Mai.
In lieu of usual remembrances, the family has requested memorials to St. Stanislaus Catholic Church, PO Box 210, Anderson, TX 77830-0210 or Our Lady of Walsingham Catholic Church, 7809 Shadyvilla Lane, Houston, TX 77055-5011.
