Marj was born December 23, 1934 in Pocahontas, Iowa, the fifth child of Edward Stephen and Lorie Ricke Fitzgerald. They later moved to Booneville, California, where she met the love of her life, P. Don Bancroft. They married in Reno, Nevada on November 22, 1951 and soon after decided to settle in Salt Lake City to raise their family.
Marj is survived by five of her children, Lynn (Dayrl) Bancroft, West Jordan; Cindy (Bruce) Brandol, Sandy; Susan (Jim) Shepherd, West Valley City; Jeanine (Leon) Webb, West Jordan; and Gordon Bancroft, West Valley City; three younger brothers, Glen Fitzgerald, Russell Fitzgerald, and Robert Fitzgerald; two younger sisters, Roberta Carbaugh and Phoebe Williamson; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren, with one great-granddaughter due in May; one great-great-granddaughter; and a whole lot of other children who all called her Grandma. Marj is preceded in death by her husband, Don Bancroft; daughter, DeeAnn Bancroft; four brothers, Stephen Fitzgerald, Ray Fitzgerald, John Fitzgerald, and Walt Fitzgerald; one sister Lois Stewart; and parents.
The family would like to show their appreciation to Intermountain Health Care Hospital and Inspiration Home Health & Hospice for all their love and care for our mother.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2018 at 12:00 p.m. in the Utah Veterans Memorial Park, 17111 South Redwood Road.
