Russell Lee Henry, 40, of Big Spring, died Tuesday, January 30, 2018.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, February 2, 2018 at Myers & Smith Funeral Home. Funeral service will be at 3:00 PM Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Myers & Smith Chapel with Mark Lyndsey, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be at Mount Olive Memorial Park.

Russell was born January 11, 1978 in Big Spring, Texas to Karen Janise Daniels Henry and Jessie Dewaine Henry.

He has been a lifetime resident of Big Spring.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in Iraq and Afghanistan with the 82nd Air Borne 1-504 “Red Devils”.

After his discharge, he began his career at Sendero Drilling. He was a rig manager and had been employed there for the last 10 years.

Russell was an avid Dallas Cowboy and Texas Ranger fan.

He is survived by one daughter: Karissa Henry (who is currently serving in the National Guard) and her mother Melissa of Fayetteville, North Carolina; one son: Logan Henry and his mother Stephanie of Big Spring; his mother: Karen Henry; his grandmother: Jonell Daniels, all of Big Spring; two brothers: Murphy Henry of Big Spring and Steven Henry of Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; four nephews: Jackson, Nolan, Collin and Griffin and two uncles: Glen Daniels and Gordon Daniels both of Big Spring.

Russell was preceded in death by his father Jessie Henry; his grandparents: Murphy Daniels and Violet “Limey” Melton and Jetti “Red” Henry.

Pallbearers will be Steven Henry, Murphy Henry, Jason Daniels, Jimmy Roper, Tommy Nester and Jacob Mendez.

In lieu flowers, the family suggests memorials to The Ranch @ Dove Tree, 1406 C.R. 5800, Lubbock, TX 79403 and 22 Kill, PTSD Organization, 13625 Neutron Road, Dallas, TX 75244.
