CHARLES EDWARD DONGES, SR. JUNE 26, 1927 - MAY 26, 2007 Beloved and devoted father to Charles and Christina Donges and Marisa Barley, stepfather to Dee Hudson, Lori House and Shannon Rindt, treasured father-in-law to Bonnie Calogeris, Glenn Barley, Manuel Dovala, and Len House, caring brother to Betty Donges, Ralph Donges and William Donges, and very close sisters-in-law Sophie Martinez and Mary Donges. He was the loving grandfather to Jason, Christopher and Gregory Donges, Garrett Barley, Tara and Lexi Lopez, Michelle Yuson, Richard and Loren House, and Bradley and Gage Rindt, and two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by several brothers and sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews, and proud owner of his beloved Kiwi, his dog. He was born in Union Town, PA and moved to California in 1947. He married Dorothy Marie Martinez in 1959, who passed away in 1971. He then married Mary Patricia Auten in 1984, who passed away in 1992. He served in the U.S. Armed Forces from 1950 to 1956 during which time he served in Korea. When he was discharged from the Army, he worked for Firestone Tire & Rubber Company until he retired in 1985. He loved the horse races, playing dominos and the Oakland A's. Chuck touched many lives and had the biggest heart for his family and friends. He will be missed and remembered lovingly by many. A celebration of his life for family and friends will be held Monday, June 4, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. at the Chapel of the Chimes, 4499 Piedmont Avenue, Oakland. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society, 1700 Webster Street, Oakland, CA 94612.
