He was born on November 23, 1954, in Missoula to Joe and Lois Ray. As a young man he joined the Army. After leaving the Army, John began driving trucks.
John met Norma R. Alexander when he lived in Fargo, North Dakota. They moved back to Missoula in July 1996.
John was a loving husband and brother. Survivors include his wife, sister, niece, and his nephew. He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Doug Ray, and his sister Linda Taylor.
