Anne R. Wells, 80, passed away Wednesday evening at her residence in Van Wert.
She was born on September 4, 1937, in Toledo, Ohio, the daughter of the late Dorcie and Ruth (Huenefeld) Turner. On December 1, 1956, she married John Russell Wells who died on December 22, 2001.
Family survivors include her daughter, Susan Showalter of Van Wert; two grandchildren, Benjamin (Ashley) Showalter and Stephanie Showalter; and two great grandchildren, William Sharpe and Alexandria Showalter.
Besides her parents and husband, Anne was preceded in death by her son, Steven John Wells; two brothers, Chuck Mercer and Dick Mercer; and two sisters, Marilyn Roman and Caroline Hertel.
Anne was a 1955 graduate of Van Wert High School. She was a member of Saint Mary of The Assumption Church and Catholic Ladies of Columbia. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Anne loved going to auctions and looking for antiques as well as playing cards with family and friends.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 5, 2018, at Saint Mary of The Assumption Church in Van Wert with Father Stan Szybka officiating. Interment will follow at Van Wert Woodland Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday 1 - 6 p.m., at Cowan & Son Funeral Home.
