Our precious and dearly loved Mother, Grandmother, Sister, Auntie and Friend, Shelly Lynn Calton Williams, born to Anna Beth Turner and Paul Deloss Calton on September 18, 1956 was set free of her Earthly suffering on January 16, 2018.
Shelly was one of four children, the second oldest in line. She is survived by her mother Anna, her older sister Paula (Doug) Davis, and preceded in death by her dad and two younger brothers Lonnie and Joe. She married Kim Lewis and had three beautiful children, Chantel, Jarad (Jayme) and Luke (Heather). Later she married Bud Olsen and Brody joined the family. Shelly has many grandchildren who will miss her so very much. Shelly was brave and adventurous, and loved to live her life.
She held various jobs over the years as a single mom, doing all she could to give her kids the best life she could. She worked at Geneva Steel for many years as a Safety Engineer, she had her First Mate's license and ran a garbage barge on Lake Powell, owned a taxi-cab company, worked as a "Flashy Flagger," and made medical supplies for kids, just to name a few. Her favorite job in the whole world though was teaching her grandkids how to skip. Shelly was a "rock hound" and collected and polished all types of stones. She had quite a collection! She loved finding new treasures, and enjoyed sharing them with her kids and grandkids. She always had something she was holding special, just for you. She passed on the love of collecting rocks to her granddaughter Baylie, who also shared her birthday. Shelly was an example of limitless love and compassion. She never turned her back on anyone, always willing to love and forgive with open arms.
Shelly lived with her mom in the last years of her life, helping her navigate, as Anna's sight has diminished. She loved her mother so much and was very protective of her. She was in the loving care of her sister Paula the last 2 months of her life. Shelly had been suffering with many health problems, and what took her life was the COPD. Many times she said she would rather do ANYTHING than be tied to that oxygen machine with her air hose. We are all grateful she is now free of that pain and of the physical restriction under which she was forced to live.
A celebration of life will be held on Monday, January 22, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the LDS Chapel located at 425 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove.
