Johnny Edward Lee, 76 of Elm Mott, passed away after a long battle with cancer January 30, 2018.

Memorial service: Monday, February 5, 2018 at 10:30am at Parkview Baptist Church, with Dr. John W. Collier officiating.

Johnny was born June 5, 1941 to Barney and Lois Lee. He graduated from Waco High School in 1959 and then served 8 years in the U.S Marine Corps Reserve.

Johnny married Betty Wetzel on September 9, 1961. From this union, two sons were born.

He worked with his dad building new homes until his dad passed away in 1979. In 1981 Johnny and his brother Melvin opened their own business called Reconstruction Specialty, Inc. They specialized in insurance restoration services, retiring in 2006.

He loved all his family and was not afraid to say “I Love You!” He had a sense of humor and joked with everyone. He loved to travel all the country roads looking to see what was new or reminiscing about the old. He was full of memories, but always ready for the new adventures as long as it was driving. He was not about to fly or take a cruise. Johnny, Betty and his mother Lois always tried to take 2 or 3 vacations a year. Favorite destinations were Branson, MO and Colorado which included his brother Melvin and wife Ruth, Kenny, Dale, and any friends that could come along when it all worked out.

Johnny loved fishing and deer hunting especially when his son Keith was able to go. Spending time with family was very important to him.

He was a Baylor sports fan. He was a season ticket holder for Girls Basketball and Softball.

Every week he enjoyed going out to eat or a home cooked meal with close friends Kenny Nichols and Dale Barron then a card game or two of Rummy or a marble game to change things up.

He was preceded in death by son, Steven D. Lee in 1987; parents, Barney and Lois Lee; grandparents; and nephew, David B. Lee in 1982.

Survivors include wife of 56 years, Betty Lee; son, Keith Lee and wife Stephanie; brother, Melvin Lee and wife Ruth; nieces, Donna and husband RW Collier, Tina and husband Hank Coats; aunt, Mildred Bruston; a great number of cousins; 9 grandchildren: Jennifer Morosky, Steven Lee and wife Lacey, Stetson Lee, Braxton Lee, Breanne and husband Larry Marek, Morgan Knight, Madison Knight, Mackenzee Knight, and Justin Knight; 7 great-grandchildren: Caden Morosky, Dixie Kaye Morosky, Jaxson Lee, Kolter Lee, Audrey Marek, Annistyn Marek, and Kierslynn Klose; special friends, Kenny Nichols, Dale Barron, Martha and Curtis Dykes, Diane Lewis, and so many more.
