Elizabeth Joyce May, 93, much beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend of Forest, Va. passed away Tuesday, January 9, 2018. She was born on May 11, 1924 in Fieldale, Va. to the late Samuel Cleveland Joyce and Blanch B. Mills Joyce. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John William May Sr.; daughter, Elizabeth M. Brown; sister, Mae J. Morrison; and brothers, William Franklin Joyce, James G. Joyce, Roy C. Joyce and Howard H. Joyce.

Elizabeth is survived by her son, John William May Jr. of College Station, Texas; grandchildren, Amanda Brown Cocke, Lindsay Brown Painter, and Lauren May See; and great grandchildren Travis and Camryn Cocke, Reese and Tyler Painter, and Barrett See.

A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Oakwood Cemetery in Martinsville, Va. with the Rev. Janet Grissett officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to the Fieldale United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 218, Fieldale, Va. 20489.
