Calvin C. Carter, 90, of Doniphan, Missouri, died Sunday, October 15, 2017, at the residence of his son, Kevin, in Bakersfield, Missouri. Mr. Carter, son of Reverend John Randolph and Sallie (Southerland) Carter, was born April 15, 1927. He had been a truck driver.
Mr. Carter was a lifetime member of the Sword of Bunker Hill, order 73, in St. Louis, Missouri, was a Mason and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #643 in Naylor, Missouri. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching baseball. Mr. Carter was of the Penetecostal faith and was a proud veteran of the U. S. Army, serving during World War II, 88th Division, known as Blue Devils.
He had previously been married to Sylvia Miller, Lena Hart and Vella Earp and they all preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his parents; 1 daughter, Diane Carter Brannum; 6 sisters; and 1 brother. Surviving are 1 daughter: Debbie Pearson of New Harmony, Indiana; 2 sons, Darren Carter of Rockford, Illinois, and Kevin Carter of Bakersfield, Missouri; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held Thursday evening, October 19, 2017, from 5 – 7 p.m. at the Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. The funeral service will follow Friday at noon, October 20, 2017 with Pastor Gary Case officiating. Burial will be in the Redenbo Cemetery near Corning, Arkansas.
