Mrs. Bates was a native of Bessemer AL. and a resident of Cleburne County since 1978. Ethel was a member of Antioch Baptist Church and loved to travel.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leroy and Loraine Waid; her husband, Marvin J. Bates; and seven siblings.
Survivors include three daughters, Joy Pruitt, Heflin, AL, and Jo Lynn Driskell and Joan Bates Grovenstein, both of Muscadine, AL; two sons, Robert Kelly, Mount Morenci, SC, and Larry Kelly, Elk View, WV; a sister, Evalie McGuire, Adairsville, GA; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM CST on Saturday, February 3, 2018, at Antioch Baptist Church, 1055 Old Highway 100 Waco GA. 30182 with the Rev. Kevin McAdams officiating.
Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2018 from 5:00 PM CST until 7:00 PM CST.
