NAVY CRASH DEAD NAMED
Plane Crashes in Lagoon
North of Point Reyes, California
San Francisco, Feb 21 (AP) -- The names
of four Navy airmen missing since Friday
when their plane crashed in a lagoon north
of Point Reyes, California, while on a
flight from the naval Air Station at Alameda,
were announced tonight by the Navy
The names were:
Lieut (j.g.) J. Ward Fouts, Dallas, Texas
Ensign William Richard Grady, Box 106, Route 2, El Paso, Texas.
Aviation Machinist Mate Carroll Aloys McCuller, Oakland, California
Aviation Radioman George Leroy Hicks, Cheboygan, Michigan
Cause of the crash was not announced. Navy salvage crews
were ordered to the scene immediately.

WARD FOUTS' FUNERAL SET
Funeral services for Lieut (j.g.) James Ward Fouts,
24, son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Fouts, 123 North
Rosemont, who was killed in the crash of a Navy
plane near Point Reyes, California, two weeks ago,
will be held at Calvary Baptist Church at 4 p.m.
Monday. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest
Mausoleum.
Lieutenant Fouts was a former honor student and
campus leader at the University of Texas. He was
one of Mr. and Mrs. Fouts' two sons in service; an
older boy, Ensign Jack Fouts, being on duty at
Pearl Harbor.
Dr. W.O. Barnett, Pastor of Calvary Baptist, of
which Lieutenant Fouts was a member will conduct
the funeral rites, assisted by a Navy Chaplain.
The Navy will have charge of the entombment service,
which will be conducted with Military Honors.
The body is expected to arrive by train Saturday
afternoon.

Lieutenant Junior Grade, United States Navy
James Ward Fouts graduated from the University of Texas in 1940. He joined the U. S. Navy and became a naval aviator after graduating from the University of Texas in 1940. He was a member of the 1938 Southwest Conference Championship Golf Team. He graduated from The University of Texas in the 1940 with a LLB Degree. He died in an air crash in 1944. His final resting place is un-known.
